Pharos

I just had a 90lbs cancer case, family kept her at home for 24 hours after death. She was in refrigeration for four days before embalming. Service is three weeks out. Had virtually zero drainage during prep, purge, and bad smell. I had to multi-point inject. Her entire abdomen and chest was green. Given her condition and lack of drainage, I wanted to aspirate same day.

I tried Pharos for the very first time, as I had just ordered a case two weeks prior. I used two bottles of Pharos after aspirating. 1.3 bottles in the upper cavity, and the remainder in the lower cavity. I wasn’t bothered by the fumes.

Her abdomen has completely firmed up. No purge. Coloration is no longer green, more natural color / slight grey. I am completely confident she will last another 2 more weeks in refrigeration before her service.

Great for autopsy viscera or any problem case. Would recommend all prep rooms to keep a case on hand.

I used a small amount of Pharos as a pack on a decedent that had major skin slip. I have never used it before and was just wanting to see if it worked the way it was advertised. Overnight the skin slip areas were solid and dry without much discoloration or bleaching at all. I also applied it on the areas where the skin was showing signs of future separation and it was almost like the skin was glues in place. I definitely recommend it for skin slip or blisters. I have not used it on the cavity yet, but I am sure the viscera will be like cement.
